Buckingham Green sets new standards for public realm at the edge of St James’s. In Fletcher Priest’s design the thousands of people who walk across it between the underground station and workplaces will pass attractive, high quality shops and restaurants, which can spill into sunlit spaces catching midday and evening sun, rather than through a dark alley.
Developed as three separate buildings, the existing tower is being refurbished as high quality apartments with offices on the lower four floors and retail on the ground, whilst the podium is being replaced with new offices and roof garden. With a fully glazed lobby, a reduced and rationalized core cased in luscious marble and innovative dark bronze-cased windows which sit in the steel frame. The building will be 80% more energy efficient when complete.
Effisus Ecofacade Pre-fab Profiles and Effisus Pre-Fab Frames were used to seal façade connections – not only to protect the building from water damage, but also to improve building airtightness and energy efficiency.
