Abrahamic Family House, Abu Dhabi

The Abrahamic Family House, whose 3 main buildings consist of a mosque, a church and a synagogue, is a multi-faith complex located on Saadiyat Island in Abu Dhabi.

Arising from an agreement called the Declaration of Human Fraternity signed by Pope Francis and Grand Imam Ahmed Al-tayeb in February 2019, the idea was to create a site where the shared values of Judaism, Christianity and Islam could be promoted.

The core principles of the design were acceptance, inclusion and peace, which represent and support the diverse communities of worshippers, residents and visitors, looking towards a future of cooperation and harmony.

The three identically sized cubic buildings display different expressions but share equal dimensions, ensuring that none of the buildings is more dominant than the others.
The design of the Abrahamic Family House has been conceived by the award-winning architectural and design firm Adjaye Associates, led by Ghanaian-British architect David Adjaye. The façade contractor was Züblin while the main contractor was Walltech LLC.

Effisus Vapour FR System was chosen to be applied in the façade of the buildings, to prevent the risk of condensation, improving their airtightness and consequently the energy efficiency of each building.
