Description:
Located within the Triple Bay marina at Amaala, on Saudi Arabia’s northwestern Red Sea coast, the Red Sea Marine Life Institute is designed to be the world’s first fully immersive experiential marine center. This state-of-the-art destination invites visitors to discover the wonders of the Red Sea’s diverse marine ecosystems through interactive experiences, research, and education.
Spanning over 10,000 square meters across three levels — above ground, below ground, and underwater — the Institute offers panoramic views of the Red Sea and marina, creating a seamless connection between architecture and nature.
The Institute’s architecture draws inspiration from the surrounding coral reef ecosystems. Its striking facades are crafted from glass-reinforced concrete (GRC) panels molded to mimic the organic patterns of coral formations. A lightweight structural steel frame and central canopy unify the building clusters, creating a visually fluid and sustainable design that mirrors the rhythm of the sea.
Sustainability is at the core of the Red Sea Marine Life Institute. Over 40% of the site will be landscaped with native vegetation, supporting local biodiversity and natural cooling. An advanced run-off water collection system minimizes water consumption and prevents soil erosion, while eco-friendly lighting design reduces light pollution to protect nocturnal marine species.
The Institute embodies Amaala’s vision of responsible tourism and environmental stewardship, showcasing how innovation and sustainability can coexist harmoniously with nature.
