Musgrove Park Hospital, located in Taunton, Somerset, is a major healthcare facility serving a large regional population with a comprehensive range of medical and surgical services. As part of an ongoing programme of upgrades and modernisation, several areas of the hospital have undergone renovation to enhance patient comfort, improve building performance and meet current healthcare facility standards. The facade renovation works were especially important in improving the building envelope’s durability, environmental control and energy efficiency, ensuring a safer and more controlled environment for patients, staff and visitors.
Applied Effisus Solutions
The renovation incorporated the Effisus Vapour FR System as the air and vapour control layer (AVCL). This non combustible, A1 fire-rated, membrane provided continuous airtightness throughout the facade build-up, effectively reducing condensation risk and preserving the performance of thermal insulation. Its non-combustibility and high resistance to moisture and environmental exposure made it particularly suitable for healthcare environments, where long-term stability and regulatory compliance are essential.
