Google Office

Dublin, Ireland

Description:

Google Campus is the company’s European headquarters located in the heart of Dublin’s Docklands, bringing together multiple interconnected buildings that reflect Google’s dynamic culture and forward-thinking approach to architecture.

From an environmental perspective, the project prioritizes sustainable design principles, including energy-efficient systems, optimized natural lighting, and the use of eco-friendly materials throughout the interior and facade. The buildings are equipped with advanced technologies to monitor and minimize energy consumption, aligning with Google’s global commitment to carbon neutrality. This required careful coordination of structural, facade, and envelope systems to ensure durability, weather resistance, and long-term performance.

Architecturally, the Dublin campus reflects a seamless integration of modern design and local character, combining glass facades, natural materials, and vibrant interiors that mirror both the city’s heritage and Google’s global identity. The result is a workspace that not only enhances productivity but also contributes to a more sustainable urban environment.

Solutions & Technical Details:

  • Effisus Vapour FR was applied on the interior, providing airtightness, vapour control, and compliance with fire safety requirements.
  • Effisus Breather FR was applied on the exterior, protecting the facade against weather conditions while allowing controlled vapour diffusion.

  • Effisus ProFlex FR was used at the facade interface, offering fire safety compliance along with high elongation capacity to accommodate differential movements without compromising system integrity.

Our Added Value:

Our consulting support was instrumental in helping the client identify a solution that met all project requirements. During the detailing phase, our close collaboration with the client proved essential — jointly reviewing technical detailing in anticipation and frequent visits to the jobsite to address unforeseen on-site challenges, particularly typical of refurbishment projects.

This project presented two main challenges. First, the exterior facade could not be removed, while the interior had to maintain an industrial aesthetic with exposed pillars. Second, both the pillars and floors where the weatherproofing systems were to be applied were severely damaged.

To overcome these issues, Effisus developed comprehensive installation procedures that enabled full system installation from the interior without compromising performance. Special attention was given to ensuring optimal adhesion and sealing of membranes to the existing substrates.

Effisus delivered the world’s only fully fire-rated building envelope system, guaranteeing complete watertightness and breathability while protecting the facade from moisture, UV exposure, and environmental stress.
