Gare de Mons

Mons, Belgium

Description:

The Gare de Mons Railway Station, Belgium was first opened on 19th December 1841. The renowned architect Santiago Calatrava won the design competition in 2004 to replace the old station with a new, up to date design, inspired by a swooping bird.

The new station will link two currently unconnected and distinct areas of the city: the residential north with the historic city center to the south. While still ongoing and due for inauguration in 2023, the construction will have new tracks and platforms, with more than 800 parking spaces.

Martifer and Aluman Group applied Effisus solutions on the project, including Effisus Ecofacade P-Fix, Effisus Ecofacade SA-Edge and Effisus Easyrepair.

Effisus Ecofacade P-Fix is being used as a water, air and vapour barrier at the interfaces of the building’s facade. The custom fit profiles incorporated into the ends of the membranes allow for reduced installation time on site, and are easily inserted into their respective metal cavities.

Effisus Ecofacade SA-Edge is being used as a water, air and vapour barrier at the interfaces of the building’s facade. The self-adhesive strips incorporated into the EPDM membrane allow for easier and faster bonding on the frame’s surfaces.

The Effisus Easyrepair membrane is being used to ensure a perfect seal at the connection between the gutters and their support points on the walls, preventing any vertical infiltration.
