Façade interfaces between construction elements, such as around windows and doors, are hotspots for water and air leakages during the project lifecycle.
Adequate weatherproofing interface solutions mitigate water leakage, mould build up and impaired airtightness and energy efficiency. Once in operation, repair work and retrofitting are cumbersome, very expensive and time-consuming.
Apart from airtightness and watertightness as baselines, a proper solution for interfaces must be able to cope with differential displacements, thus must have outstanding flexibility capacity. Interface gaps will daily and often change their width since window frames and façade structure expand at different rates and wind forces can induce substantial movements. Breather or AVCL façade membranes are not recommended as these don’t meet the application requirements. Moreover, with the rising concerns and code requirements to control fire spread in building façades, traditional flammable EPDM solutions like Effisus Ecofaçade are being replaced by alternatives.
Effisus ProFlex FR extraordinarily combines a 200% gap elongation capacity with a B class fire rating, without compromising on water and air tightness. With no restrictions for use in High-Risk Buildings (HRB) and validated by a BBA certification, as well as, DCD and ADCD certifications, it is the new market reference to seal façade interfaces where EPDM solutions are increasingly out of scope.
Effisus ProFlex FR is complemented by a full range of dedicated accessories for fixing the membrane in place, addressing overlaps, sealing the perimeter and lastly sealing punctual perforations. On demand, the adhesive tapes may be pre-assembled for an outstanding reliable and easy-to-install system that saves time on site while guaranteeing long-term performance.
For projects with less stringent fire rating requirements Effisus Ecofacade remains a proven and differentiated EPDM solution that it can be customized and prefabricated to multiple levels to enhance installation, productivity and end quality.
